I'm going to Hunan and Guizhou at the end of the month and I'm a bit scared with the latest news of the floods.
Maybe we are receiving incomplete information...
Could anyone inform me about it? Is it dangerous going there in this time of the year?
Thanks!

PS. some friends are going to Guillin, what about that area?

I haven;t hear the news but I have travelled in these provinces during the past summers and while roads can be devastated by flood waters, mud slides etc you should still be able to travel. Just need to trust the locals. If they can travel then so can you.

From what I'm seeing on TV, it seems that some places are totally flooded out. Personally I would try to stay away from that area -- you might be stranded or perhaps getting in the way of local rescue efforts.

Thanks for your reply :-) If the situation is not too bad I will go anyway.
I guess Xinjiang is not the best place to go either at this moment... Ellyse, it looks like you didn't like Guizhou, why?

Actually, I'd much rather go to Xinjiang than to Guizhou. :P
Combination of factors why I didn't like Guizhou, but that shouldn't deter you from going there.
