Any Help With Possible Destinations from Yanzhou Train Station?

guestMichael I have just had two wonderful days in Qufu in Shandong Province. What a beautiful city! I spent a magical day wandering through the Kang Family Tombs. Certainly thiis is one of the most beautiful, sacred and haunting spots in the entire world.

Now I am wondering where to go from here. I have discovered that I can take a bus to neighboring Yanzhou, where they have a train station. But I am having problems identifying what cities are serviced by this station. I was planning to make a (relatively) full circuit of China, going from Chengdu (my adopted "laojia"), Xi'an, Beijing, Qufu, Suzhou, Guangzhou, Guilin, Kunming, etc.)

Now I am finding myself weighed down a little by souvenirs (I can never say no) and road fatigue, and I am thinking about heading back to Chengdu, stopping off at maybe one pretty city on the way, and then resuming my trip down south once I've recovered some energy and washed the dust off my clothes..

The problem is, I can't tell where I am able to go from Yanzhou (all the on-line search engines come up empty), and my experience is that a laowei will have a rather fruitless encounter at the ticket window if he doesn't know exactly what he is looking for.in the way of a ticket .

Can anyone help with this problem? I'd like to know whether I can a) catch a soft sleeper directly from Yanzhou to Chengdu, or b) catch a train from Yanzhou to an intermediate city on the way to Chengdu and then transfer from there.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

There's a direct train for Yanzhou -- Chengdu:K208/K205 (2313--0920, 34h07min).
However I think your chances of getting a soft sleeper are extremely slim or even nil.
The train originates in Qingdao, and it does qualify for a "pretty city" by Chinese standards, so I would advise that you go to Qingdao and try there.

GUESTMICHAEL Oh, Ellyse, you are such a wonderful font of information! As you have probably surmised, I ran out of time and went ahead and booked a soft sleeper to Shanghai. It was a wonderful trip and I made lots of friends, so much so that I am now feeling rejuvenated and ready to tackle the road again.

Now I am thinking about returning to Chengdu through Guilin. Do you happen to know if that is doable? (ie., take a soft sleeper to Guilin, stay a few days, and then leave by soft sleeper to Chengdu?)

Thank you so much for your help!

Yes definitely possible. Guilin -- Chengdu will take pretty long by train though.
