![]() | Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister David Jalagania announced that the process of Georgia’s withdrawl from the Commwealth of Independent States (CIS) has come to an end on August 18, 2009. Georgia decided to leave the CIS after Russian military intervention of last year. As per the founding rules, a country shall leave the community (CIS) only one year after the decision is announced, and now that one year has expired on Tuesday, 18 August. The national flag of Georgia will be removed from the executive committee of the CIS. Georgia joined in the CIS in 1992 after the Collapse of Soviet Union. Will it mark a new round of Collapse of CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States)? Russia acted on its Chauvinism in the era of Soviet Union, which more or less caused the resentment from other members of USSR, hence the collapse of USSR. |

![]() | Geogia's secession the Commonwealth of Independent States is due to Russia's invasion last year. Georgia thought Russia didn't show respect to its territorial integrity. |
