I used to have some doubts before I visited Guangzhou but after my last trip I think it's relative safe though I didn't see much of that city. On my way to the airport I left my mobile phone on the taxi. The momoment I realised it 10 mins later I tried calling my own number hoping that the cab driver will pick up my call and return it to me but to my disappointment it was switched off. Too bad I couldn't recall the cab's regristration number. Unforgettable trip.

GUESTLIN You lost the phone due to your negligence. Pickpocket often target mobile phones. My sister have 2 mobile phones stolen when went shopping. Take good care of your personal belongings when you travel around China.

one must be alert and not forgetful on cell phones n bags - think this applies to anywhere one goes and not just in China.

GUEST56248 GZ is safer than a few years ago.My wife iz GZ and I've been going there for 8 years. Last time in March she commented on how much safer it felt. Seemed cleaner also to me.
