![]() | hi everyone i'm planning my first china trip in april next year. unfortunately it will only be 3 weeks long. as i don't have a certain route yet, i've read a bit on this site and travelwiki and here are the cities which sound interesting to me for a visit: beijing, chengdu, chongqing, dali, guilin/longshen/yangshuo, hangzhou, kunming, nanjing, shanghai, suzhou, xian. i know how big the distances between the cities are and that there is a lot to see there so i will have to scratch some of them. the only must see is beijing with a 3 day stay so far. i'm very interested in landscape and scenery (lakes, rivers, lookouts, gardens, no trekking) but also the most famous temples, buildings and stuff. could someone please give me advice on the must see places for me? thanks. |

![]() | 3 days for Beijing is really a tad short. I would usually give it 4-5 days. I would add Yangzhou and kick out Suzhou -- Yangzhou is less touristy but IMHO no less beautiful. I think you could well skip Chongqing. I don't think you have the time to make Dali and Kunming worth the long trip there. Unless you're flying? What are your points of entry and exit? |

![]() | thanks for the tip with yangzhou. i will probably travel by train and plane but i also think that dali + kunming will be too much. i haven't booked the flight yet but i will probably enter via beijing. how about chengdu, hangzhou, nanjing and espacially shanghai? i think xian und the guilin area are must sees? or maybe change the big cities with smaller less touristy ones? |

![]() | Those are fine. I would also try to include Jiuzhaigou in between Xi'an and Chengdu, but there might not be flights yet in April -- these are seasonal. You might want to reply to me on email -- yahoo.com|ellyse99 and put "TravelChinaGuide" and your own username (eg Coogan) in the subject line, thanks. |
