Kunming-Lijiang: Private car rental

We will be arriving in Kunming and moving on to Lijiang on Oct 19. We need to rent a car for a few days to take us from Lijiang-Zhongdian-Deqin and back. We are a small group of 5 - 6 photographers and may need to stop anywhere along the route to take pictures.

1) How much is the car or mini-van rental per day?
2) Is it cheaper to rent from Kunming or Lijiang?
3) Are there tour groups specialising in such tours for photographers?

Should be cheaper to rent from Lijiang, since I suppose you'll be taking normal overnight bus for Kunming -- Lijiang?

Thanks, ellyse. We might just fly frm KMG-Lijiang to save time. I wonder if I should go to the travel agencies in Lijiang to look for car rentals or there is a cheaper way?

Ask at the guesthouse which you're staying at if they know of someone with a good vehicle. I would strongly recommend that you look for someone with a good 4WD and driving skills.
