Chinese Mid-autumn Festival is approaching. Plenty of Chinese citizens or expats in China want to mail mooncakes (traditional gift during the Mid-autumn Festival)to their friends and relatives outside China. 15 countries forbid Chinese mooncakes to enter their countries: France, Germany, Thailand, Sweden, Colombia, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon, Burundi, Gabon, Ethiopia, Sudan, Libya and Burma. Why do these 15 countries restrict entry into Chinese mooncakes? Is that due to “Green Barrier” or “trade barrier”? Are there some kinds of mooncakes on these countries’ markets?

Sudan and Libya are muslim countries. Chinese mooncake contains stuffing made of pork. Autralia forbid the entry of Chinese pork is due to they don't trust the quality of the stuffing that is made of egg.

There are many countries that have restrictions on the sending of food through the mail. You will note that on most countries entry forms it states that food cannot be taken in. Canned food may be an exception. Any left over food on the aircraft will also be quarantined and destroyed. Nothing at all with being “dumb and ignorant” and nothing to do with any type of trade barrier either. Just standard international health regulations. Dodger.

It's a pity that overseas Chinese expats cound't eat the delicious home-made mooncakes. Hopefully, they can buy some mooncakes on the local markets.

EU countries impose "Green Barriers" on the import of Chinese food products. The stuffings in mooncakes are not up to their standard.
