Hi guys ,

I would like to ask if this is feasible
I will be reaching BJ on 10 october at 1pm and will be staying in Capital Hotel Beijing.
On the 13th, i will have to leave BJ by 3pm.

This is my itinerary

10/10 - Wang fu jing
11/10 - Yi He Yuan , Tian Tan , Forbidden City
12/10 - Great wall of china, Ghost street
13/10 - Tian An Men , airport back to Shanghai

Are there any places that have snacks?
Last question, I am pretty clueless how i can get to yi he yuan , tian tan , forbidden city and great wall of china from my hotel. Do I take the cab to save all the trouble or is there any alternative?

Thanks !

Curry, I presume you mean Wang fu jing street?
Waist of time in my opinion, but the Forbidden City is just five minutes walk from there along with Tiananmen Square.
The Summer palace is in the north west and the Temple of heaven is in the south, so trying to see them all including the Forbidden City in one day is stretching it a bit.
There are a few places that you can access the Wall from depending if you like crowds and hawkers or a little quite, but the quite bits take time to get to.
Ghost Street would be a nice way to finish the day though.
Your Hotel would have information on transport to these places, but depending on your budget, taxis may be the way to go.
Make sure the Hotel gives you their card with their address on it in Chinese characters, not in pinyin, as the Taxi drivers in general cannot read pinyin.
If you knock over Tiananmen and the Forbidden City on day one it would leave you time to visit the Silk Market for any shopping you might want to do.
“Are there any places to have snacks?”
Beijing must have more restaurants per square foot than any other City in the world.
Finally, you are supposed to have your passport on you at all times. Make a photocopy and carry that with you. Leave the original locked up at the hotel.
Cheers, Dodger.

No, your itinerary wouldn't be practical especially on 11/10!
Sat 10/10: arrive Beijing 1300 - check-in hotel - (walk) - Forbidden City - (walk) - Tiananmen Square - (metro/walk) - Wangfujing pedestrian street (find your snacks here)
Sun 11/10 (wake up early!): (taxi) - Panjiayuan market - (taxi) - Temple of Heaven - (metro) - Yonghegong Lamasery - (taxi) - Nanluogu Alley hutong area - (taxi) - Ghost Street
Mon 12/10: (metro) - Summer Palace - (metro) - Olympic Green - (metro) - Peking duck dinner
Tue 13/10 (vehicle hire): check-out hotel - Mutianyu Great Wall - flight check-in 1300 - flight out 1500
If you've any more queries, email me at yahoo.com|ellyse99 and put "TravelChinaGuide" in the subject line.
