The militay parade is an anachronism intended to intimidate neighbours and promote nationalistic fervor. It belongs in the past. It will only succeed in producing another arms race.

GUEST43113 At least China seems to have come out of their military secrecy. Although I don't know how much they still hid at that parade, but the part which they did make public, clearly showed that they have already overtaken the Russians at least.

The next 10 years will tell if the huge military build up is defensive or offensive.
