The giant portrait of Chairman Mao above the Tiananmen Gate was replaced by a new Mao portrait at 22:00 of September 27, 2009. It was said that the picture above the Tian’anmen Gate renews at least once every year. Which painters actually did the giant portrait of Chairman Mao was never disclosed.
