Hi, the first thing is to get your passport and visa. If you just want to travel, get a tourist visa. If you want to live here for more than three months, things will be more difficult. If you don't speak China, I bet you'd better get an interpreter or at least someone who can help you. It's different to travel round China. I'd like to help and I'm an English tour guide and interpreter in China now.

GUEST93215 Hi !

I'm a french student and I went to China last year for a university exchange program, I had questions about what documents are necessary to go to China, I discovered a website that could help you: http://beta.gullivearth.com/en/guide/read/686/administrative-approach-in-china.

Good luck :)

To live in China you need to either have a job invitation, start a business with a very large investment or marry a Chinese lady. To get a job invitation you need to be qualified in a special skill. This means a job that a Chinese national cannot do. The only skill open to most foreigners is in teaching a language. If you are a native English speaker and have a degree, TEFL qualification and preferably some teaching experience, finding a job is relatively easy. Keeping it might not be . If you have less than this, job finding becomes more difficult and less well paid. Before even contemplating this you should consider spending more time "living" in China. Being a tourist is a totally different experience.

Even marrying a Chinese lady is not without its problems. You would still need to renew your visa every year.
