Hi...We are in Vietnam & wish to cross to China using either UK or NZ passports. We plan on crossing over mid November. We have a flight booked 28th Dec, Kunming to Hong Kong (6 weeks).
After 6 days in Hong Kong we wish to travel by train to Guilin returning to Hong Kong 22 Jan to fly to NZ.(3 weeks). We're getting conflicting information as to the length of time we can stay in China. What sort of visa should we apply for. Currently in Hanoi. :-)

GUEST64198 Hi...you are getting conflicting information of China visa because the China government is changing policies and not getting information out. I am able to get single entry to multiple entry visas in Macau (just hop on a ferry to Macau from Hong Kong). We can arrange your visa the same day (no weekends unless emergency). You can email: usastudyservice.com|tyrone or call +853 6216 8900.

Thanks for that Tyrone. We are not in HK until January and trying to arrange visa while in Hanoi.
For other travellers' information: We visited the Chinese Embassy here in Hanoi today who told us that if we are on a Vietnamese tourist visa then all China visa applications are dealt with in Ho Chi Min City. They refused to give us any info. We still do not know what sort of visas are being offered but are now going to try and sort it through our hotel.
