Do you believe in traditional Chinese medicine? Did you ever try some traditional Chinese medicine food or follow the eating rules of it? eg, the colors and five elements and things like that. I made some food myself and I think it tastes good and good for my health. What do you think?

Chinese medicine is largely psychosomatic. Even acupuncture has recently been proven to be ineffectual physically but the power of positive thinking is in another realm completely. I see no medicinal benefit in drinking hot water or cupping but both are popular in China. However, if you believe, it will probabaly relieve the smptoms. Temporarily at least. A cure is another matter entirely.

Well... At least I would like to try acupuncture someday in the future. And I think to take the massage with acupuncture points is very enjoyable... but you might be right, in some way... The traditional Chinese medicine exists in the world for such a long time and I think there must be a reason for it.

Human sacrifice existed for a long time as well HERBEAT but I also doubt the effectiveness of that. Do you believe drinking hot water or placing cups on your back cures medical problems?

Hi Bob, I find your questions are always challenging^-^ I don't believe in hot water at all. In fact, I often drink cold water in summer. But sometimes I feel good when I feel like drinking hot water and I drink some,. And I like tea very much, it tastes good with hot water. Placing cups? I've never tried it since I think it's not good for my skin. But my parents like that very much and they even got lots of cups at home recently. I guess they enjoy it very much. As I said, there's one thing I trust. I think the massage with acupuncture points works well and I'm kind of interested in it. It's getting more and more popular these days in China and you can find loads of books about home massage or easy- learning traditional Chinese medicine. If you are interested in it, one benifit you'll get is the delicious food^-^ By the way, I found the song of Human Sacrifice online and I listened to it since I read your reply. I have to say it's effective to me, making me crazy with the noise (Joking)^-^ But anyway, I still think there must be some reason for the exist of traditional Chinese medicine...

The Aboriginals in Australia used to believe that if a tribal elder wanted sombody to die, all he had to do was point a special bone at him, and that man would die. They believed it so strongly, and for so long, that the man would actually die. Nothing could convince the man who had the bone pointed at him that he could survive, so he simply died. I once knew a man who had terminal cancer. He had exhausted all medical options and was waiting to die. As a last resort he found god and became devoted believer. He is now in long term remission and believes it was his religion that saved him. Never underestimate the power of positive thinking.

I think traditional Chinese medicine does much more than pointing a special bone but I agree with you Bob. People should pay attention to the power of positive thinking, as you said. When I was a personnal nutritionist and when I noticed that my customer was in a bad mood, I always try to make them happy and to tell the truth, I think it works much better than the so-called traditional Chinese medicine diet. ^-^ By the way, this afternoon when I felt cold I drank some hot water, and then I feel warm again^-^

I think my analogy was fair. If death can be caused by a simple belief by one population, then surely the reverse is also possible by another. If you believe strongly enough that a particular medicine (or placebo) will cure what ails you, then quite possibly it will. Glad the hot water made you feel warm again HERBEAT. Curiously, cold beer has the same effect on me.

Well... That's true. But I don't like beer even though there's some vitamin B... By the way, do you ever taste Tsingtao(Qingdao) Beer? It's said its the best one in China. Do you agree?

I would agree that Tsingtao beer is the best in China. However the exported Tsingtao is even better. I often drink it in Australia, but only if I'm feeling cold and there's no hot water available of course.
