Sun Zhongjie, a 19 years old min-van driver recently has been known to the public for fighting for his reputation. On Oct 14th, he drove his min-van on the road and then a guy showed up in the middle of the road and asked Sun to give him a lift. Sun was so kind and let that guy in. When Sun drove his car 2 kilometers from where he picked up that guy, suddenly that guy opened the door and got off the van. Then several people showed up, took away his key and his cell phone and claimed that he illegally carried a passenger.Sun realized that he was set up but he couldn't do anything. Finally, he signed a penalty notice and his mini-van was also taken away.

After getting back to his company, he was scolded by his boss. In order to prove his innocence, he used a knife to cut off his little finger on his left hand. Finally, his case was known to the public.

On Oct 20th, the local authorities claimed that there was no entrapment or set-up in Sun’s case. Sun did operate his car illegally. However, the public doubted at this because many drivers said that they were set up by the local transport supervisors too.

Facing heavy pressure from the public, Shanghai municipality looked into this case again and finally found out that Sun was innocent. He was entrapped by the local transport supervisors.

Sun was innocent. However, what about other drivers who were entrapped before? Zhang Jun, a white collar in Shanghai was also set up by the local transport supervisors on Sep. 8. Currently, he is using legal weapons to prove his innocence. Good luck to him.

What do we learn from this? Don’t try to be another Lei Feng in today’s world. Next time, if you meet a guy who asks for a lift by the road, just leave him alone and keep driving, driving and driving…….

Here is a picture: A guy is driving his car on the road. Suddenly, another guy showed up in the middle of the road and asked the driver to give him a lift. He said to the driver:"I have a stomache. Please give me a lift and I will pay you.". If you were the driver, will you pick him up? Pick him up, you might be set up. That guy might be just a bait. If not, you might feel guilty because you are so kind.

Sigh! What should I say? It is really Shanghai's shame. Kevin might be right, if I was a driver, I would not let any stranger to get in my car. It seems that to be a good guy is the hardest thing in today's China. You intend to help others but finally you are fined and your car is taken away. Is it worthy?

GUEST8162 Well, Sun said in an interview that he would never pick up any strangers who ask for a lift in the future. Sun's case is just a tip of the iceberg. We don't know how many drivers have been set up and punished heavily. Those who were entrapped should unite together to fight for their reputation and interests. However, they should do this very cleverly. Drawing much attention from the media and the public can help you a lot.

GUEST8162, you are totally right. Only when you draw much attention from the public, higher governors might get to know you. Your case might be solved. Sun should thank his brother very much. His brother is a smart guy. He kept in touch with some journalists of some newspapers. With their help, Sun's case was known to the public. Finally, he succeeded.
