![]() | Hi everybody, So, I recently met someone online. We fell in love and plan to marry sometime soon in the near future. I have been researching the process of the K-1 and K-3 VISA. After carefully considering the preparation time of both, my fiancee (she is from China) and I decided to file for the K-1 fiancee due to the persumably shorter waiting time. I have spoken to an immigration firm for a consultation and they told me I cannot file my K-1 petition till I meet her in February 2010. Furthermore, I am still deciding on whether or not to go through the immigration firm or do it myself. I have several questions if anyone can answer: 1) What proof does the USCIS need to validate our eligibility to marriage if both of us are single? 2) What forms do I file for the K-1? 3) What is needed when I file the petition to substantiate that I can support my fiancee financially? 4) Can she come live with me while we are in the process of filing for the petition? 5) Finally, what do I need to bring over to China for the K-1 VISA paperwork when I see her and what do I need to do? The reason why I cannot go sooner to meet her is because my work requires a lot of my attention during this time. I plan on making several trips to her during the K-1 process and a trip when she hopefully has her K-1 interview. If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it. Thank you. |
