As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5- yearphase-in plan that would become known as 'Euro-English'. In the first year, 's' will replace the soft 'c'. Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard 'c' will be dropped in favour of 'k'. This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome 'ph' will be replaced with 'f'. This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter. In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent 'e' in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away. By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing 'th' with 'z' and 'w' with 'v'. Nice to meet you here, I'm Mayo from Tianjin by the way :)
I saw your lovely photo with your lovely wife.... So sweet!

I'm marrying an English guy John, we're living in Suzhou at the moment, and we're planning to get married next year in China :p But we have absolutely no idea how to do it... John is going back to UK soon, he wants to bring all the papers we need for the next step back...

So, a little advise would be really helpful Dodger, please!

Mayo, nice to hear from you.
My Wife is also from Tianjin, but was living and working in Beijing.
As far as I know, you can only get married in your hometown, so you will both need to return there to Tianjin.
All John will need is a “single certificate” (plus his passport) which basically says that he is free to marry. Some regions in China ask that this document be translated into Chinese. The Tianjin office did not ask for a translated copy.
I obtained mine through the Australian government.
I have no idea what documents you will need to present.
If you send Alan a PM he can point John in the right direction as far as the above certificate is concerned in regards to which UK department issues and endorses it. He will also have information about you both moving to the UK if that is your wish.

Once married, John is eligible to apply for a family reunion visa, which falls under the L category. The maximum length is for 12 months, but they do have multiple entries.
I have no idea of the total cost of the marriage certificate as my Wife made all of the arrangements.

OK, by popular request it is No.32 Southern Court on Baiziwan Road. Chaoyang Distric.
The food is unbelievable and the floorshow is included. Most of it is in Mongolian.
I was given a complementary glass of Mongolian wine the second time that I went there. The manager asked me what I thought of it. I said it was really difficult to tell on only one glass, so he sent over a bottle on the house.
It wasn’t bad…hic.
