China (Z) work visa question

GUESTWALKER you need the police certificate / clearance as part of the rules for applying Z visa in china. Rules also pointed that in order to obtain the Z visa, person must apply for it in their local country's embassy. The single entry is just for formality, means you are allowed to enter and work in china 1 time for 1 year(citation needed), so when crossing borders to hong kong, and you plan to return to mainland, always bring your brown booklet, residence permit as proof of your valid work visa.

I have never had a police clearance for a Z visa and don't know of anyone who has. I believe this requirement might be applied at the discretion of the PSB - perhaps in regards to applications from certain nationalities.

You do not necessarily have to apply in your own country: many people obtain their visa in HK. However, it is true that some applications are refused if you apply outside your country of residence....which is not necessarily the same as your nationality

I have seen a document in a PSB which says you may apply for a Z visa in China, but I have not met anyone who has done so.;

i think you needn't to provide the certificate !
