Hi! My boyfriend and I are going to China from feb 8th to feb 28th. We wanted to spend Chinese New Year (14th feb) in Beijing. Is it a good idea? Before that we'll be in Qingdao (a Chinese family invited us to spend NYE with them as well) and after visiting Beijing we want to go to Guilin, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Would you recommend us to spend NYE in some other place of our list instead of Beijing?
Thanks in advance.

Spend it somewhere where you have local people to stay with, otherwise it'll be a rather boring Chinese New Year. Celebrations and such are family-oriented.

GUEST52074 Or spend it in the bigger cities where there are shopping square or street, am sure a lot of CNY decorations.
