I have never had any problems getting my China visas, now later this year I want to go to Tibet.
Can anyone advise on how easy they are or not to obtain. I heard from 1 person that you have to be part of a tour group to apply and individuals cant.

For Tibet you need a Tibet travel permit as well as a China visa. My info is about 8 weeks old so of course there could have been changes, but I have not heard anything. The Yunnan travel agents were advising that you must be a part of a group, 8 people costing around 2000 rmb each, 2 people in excess of 4000 rmb. I believe it is up to you to form a group, they will not do it. This will get you to Lhasa where you can apply for a further permit to travel to other locations, but I have no info on what's involved, where you are permitted to go, or the costs.

I decided not to bother!

Thanks Paul, sadly not going is not an option. We both want to go as honeymoon trip.

I will look at the options nearer the time, just in case they change.
