| I am researching for a Trip next April (2011). There will be 5 adults in our group and we will be starting out from Georgia, USA. One of the things I am trying to find out is the least expensive way to Travel between Hong Kong, Beijing and Tokyo. Sorry for so many questions, we are just trying to get a lot of the details worked out and know how much money we will need to save for the trip. We are going to try to use our Frequent Flyer miles to go from USA to Hong Kong and then from Tokyo back home, but we will need to pay for travel within Asia and are trying to keep the costs down. We will possibly take the train from Hong Kong to Beijing and fly to Tokyo from there. Is this the best (and least expensive) option for trying to visit these three cities in the same trip? What would be the approximate cost and time involved in taking the train from Hong Kong to Beijing? Also, what is the diffrence between all the seat options on that train? I'm not sure what soft vs hard sleepers are nor what "berth" means (for example, six berth hard sleeper). Thank you! |

| For the fare needed to go by train from Hong Kong to Beijing, look here: http://www.it3.mtr.com.hk/ Note that this train only goes every other day. "Berth" is a bunk. There're 6 bunks for each hard sleeper compartment, and 4 bunks for each soft sleeper compartment. Hard sleepers don't have a door and soft sleepers have one that can be locked from the inside. |
