Is it worth visiting China during the July monsoon rains?

guestRDR Have a conference in Shenzhen and wanted to follow that with visits to Guilin, Beijing and Xian, BUT it's planned for July which is bang in the middle of the rainy hot and humid summer season. Is it worth proceeding with my plans or should I defer it to another time?

Of course it's Ok. You could get rain anywhere you are likely to travel. It's not that bad, but it is hot.
