| As I understand it you will need a visa. Contact your nearest Chinese consulate in Japan or USA. I agree it is probably cheaper to fly to HK than Zhanjiang. From HK, I think your best route is to take a bus from HK airport to Guangzhou, cost is about 180 rmb I think. From Guangzhou you can get a bus to Zhanjiang cost 160rmb, and it takes about 6 hours. There are three bus stations very close to the main Guangzhou Rail Station, and you should be able to get a bus from one of those. Alternatively, you can get a train to Zhanjiang, but it is not always possible to get a seat/sleeper at short notice.
