What is the best way (train, bus or plane) to get from:

Xi'an to Chengdu to Guilin to Shanghai? Please advise on how long the train/bus will take.

"Best" is subjective. I would do all those by flight.

GUEST19440 Good point. I guess what i really want to know is the amount of time it will take on the train. I know plane would be fastest but not the cheapest.

Also, anyone used the "China Pass" from Skyteam before?

I'm now also on SkyTeam, but haven't used the "China Pass" so can't help with that, sorry.
The train journey times do differ according to each train.
Xi'an -- Chengdu: 13-18.5 hours
Chengdu -- Guilin: 25.5 hours
Guilin -- Shanghai: 22-24 hours
