| The Ningxia portion of the Great Wall consists of two main parts: the Ming Dynasty wall and the Qin Dynasty wall. The Ming wall was comprised of the Eastern, Northern and Western sections, tracking along the region's northern border from east to west. A few sections of the wall in Ningxia have remained in good shape through the ages. It is not recommended to have a hiking there because most part are not open to tourists and tourist equipments and facilities are far from being available there. Also just ruins of watchtowers and scattered rocks and dusts. If you are really intereted in adventurous hiking along the Wall. I recommended you tracking along the Simatai or Huanghuacheng Great Wall in the norhtern suburb of Beijing. They are in a ruinous state and there, the wall really looks as one would expect it to look some 500 years after it was built during the Ming Dynasty. As with all dangerous exploits it is advisable to have an experienced guide or someone who has been before to go with you. Enjoy it! |
