What’s your view about college students who engaged in politics?

They are knowledgeable and enthusiastic, but are they qualified to do their job well? I want to mention one of my friends who engaged in “politics” for a year. His major in university is Japanese. He told me that he has been idle for too long. And he really doesn’t like this job at all. I do accept that this measure has something to do to ease the pressure on employment. But what I want to say is it may do harmful to students themselves. On one hand, they are easy to neglect what they have learnt in college. On the other, they are not responsible for the development of the village they work for. So, I appreciate your precious view!
