Am I in luck? criminal record story

guest87220 I've just been offerred a job in Beijing. I have a criminal record but checked "no" I thought I would be required to provide a police certificate but no one has asked for it. Am in in luck or is it just a fluke? To get a Z working Visa is a police certificate required? Why didn't they ask me, yet many people here told me it was required?

Nothing is ever 'for sure' in China. I have never met anyone who has been asked for a police certificate. I guess it is there in the regulations and used at the local office's discretion.
