Which train station do I go to in Shanghai to catch a train to Nanjing?
How long is the train ride? What is the cost for better seats?

Is there a high speed train that connects Shanghai to Beijing? How long does it take? What is the cost for better seats?

Shanghai -- Nanjing trains leave from Shanghai main train station. It takes about 2.5 hours on the fastest D trains and costs 112 RMB for 1st-class seats each way.
There're D trains between Shanghai and Beijing which take about 10 hours. If you go overnight, there're only sleepers, no seats; if you go in the daytime there're only seats, no sleepers. Cost will vary according to your choice.
