Train journey from Shanghai to Beijing

Hi fellow travellers,

My wife and ! are travelling by train from Shanghai to Beijing in August, we plan to do the journey in stages over a 7 day period. We plan to stay in Nanjing for 2 or 3 days. Advice/recommendation please required for the rest of the journey. Hotel recommendations would also be appreciated.

Well, what are your sightseeing interests and preferences like? I can think of plenty of places, but I don't know which would be more suitable for you.

Then definitely Nanjing for 3 if not 4 days. Other than that I would recommend Suzhou.
