This joke is spreading widely on the internet. It is written in Chinese. I am trying to translate it into English. Don’t know if you can understand its humor.

Forget to say, it is about 2010 South Africa World Cup.

Spain: I feel cold.
Germany: Me too.
France: It’s too cold and I am going back home now…..
England: Don’t hurry! Wait for me!
Italy: Wait for two days. I’ll get back home with you guys very soon.
China: Well, well. I’ve already known it is cold in South Africa. That’s why I didn’t show up there.

Please don’t blame Spain, France and Italy. It is really cold in South Africa. See, it is in winter now.

Elliot, you are very close.

Just tease their loss at South Africa World Cup. Spain lost their first game to Switzerland, who is not a very strong rival. Germany was beaten by Serbia. Mexico defeated France. Besides, France tied with Uruguay. What's worse, the French squad was in turmoil. England tied two games (Algeria 0:0 and US 1:1). Italy drew with New Zealand and Paraguay.

Those strong teams are believed to win their games easily since their rivals are weak. However, they ever lost or tied. Really surprising.

"China: Well, well. I’ve already known it is cold in South Africa. That’s why I didn’t show up there."

Definitely irony. I feel embarrassed to mention Chinese men's squad. They even can not beat North Korea. On the other hand, I am happy that they didn't appear at 2010 World Cup. Why? We needn't feel embarrassed again. .

Although North Korea was defeated badly by Portugal (0:7), they at least scored one goal when they played against Brazil. What did Chinese men's squad do at 2002 World Cup. They came back just with disgrace. NO GOAL.

One thing that I omitted is the CHINESE SOCCER SCANDAL exposed by the media a few months ago. You may find some reports to read on the internet.

I am totally disappointed at Chinese men's football.

Don´t worry, Jimmy, chinese soccer is walking with baby shoes now but it definitely will rise from that.

Of course, there is no old culture in soccer in China so how could they just pop to map in a short time? The US left home after loosing Ghana. US played a very stupid high school soccer. To get here has been 20 year work in the US. Still they are on their way home now.

Today England got a ticket back home. Germany beated them 4 - 1. Ok, England scored 2 - 2, but even that would not have helped them. Germany was so strong. And english soccer culture goes back to 19th century...

Oh, a comment about that joke, well mostly for the weather.

Brazil was playing against Finland in Helsinki Olympic Stadium, don´t remember the year, but it was the end of July, +10 degrees celcius. Brazil won 3 - 1. After the match Zico was asked how he liked the weather. Zico said it did not matter, there is winter every year in Brazil, too.

AS Roma was here playing UEFA cup match, temperature was - 2, wind 8m/s, they won 1 - 0, Rudi Völler scored, if I remember correct.

Carlos, long time no see. I really miss you. How are you doing these days? Are you at home or just in Nanning?

To be honest, I am totally disappointed at Chinese Men’s Soccer Team. Will it rise? I don’t think so. Just look at Japan and South Korea. They also don’t have long history of playing soccer. However, they have surpassed China greatly. Besides, even North Korea plays better than China. Please remember that they scored one goal during the game against Brazil.

What about Chinese Men’s team? They played at 2002 World Cup but came back with nothing but humiliation. Perhaps, you don’t know the inside information about Chinese soccer. Those female footballers are very poor. To make a living, they even set up a stall to sell clothes. In an interview, a female football player said that she could earn more by selling clothes than playing soccer. Chinese Women’s soccer has been ignored. I feel sorry to see this.

Compared with female football players, Chinese male football player enjoy much better treatment. Their salaries are much higher than female footballers. A survey says female footballers in Shanghai and Dalian earn around CNY 4000 per month. Guangdong female players earn around CNY 2000. In other places, they just earn more than CNY 1000. The male footballers earn more than 10 thousand per month. Considering of the prize for scoring, their yearly salary are much more than female players.

Just see what Chinese male footballers wear and bring. Their bags are LV.

My suggestion is to decrease their salaries. Just let them know they won’t make good money if they don’t play well. If they lose the game to the rival who is obviously weaker than them, they should be punished. They have been spoiled by China Soccer Federation.

Please don’t waste our money to raise such a group of losers.

Carlos, I am just joking. Italy and France are out because they deserved the results. They didn't play well to let them advance to the next round. The weather wasn't the key.
