The Chinese Valentine's Day
Jun 22, 2010 02:04
guestFiona The Seventh Evening of the seventh lunar month is the Lover Festival in China. The Double Seventh Festival is a traditional festival full of romance. It often goes into August in the Gregorian calendar. In Chinese fairy tale, there is a romantic legend about Niu Lang (a cowboy) and Zhi Nv (She was said to be the youngest of seven daughters of the Queen of Heaven.). They can only meet once a year in this day.

In mid August, 2010, the first ‘Love Festival’ will be held in Qinhuangdao, Hebei province. There will be a series of activities during these days, including a concert which contains full Chinese elements. Welcome to Qinhuangdao, and enjoy more in China.

Actually, more Chinese young couples or lovers tend to celebrate western Valentine's Day( 14 of February) more than Chinese Valentine's Day. That's the result of globalization.

But meanwhile, it is important to celebrate national festivals, not only Chinese Valentine's Day. I think the government and citizens should work together to let domestic festivals pass-on.
