Heave rains and the floods have affected 68.7 million people in 22 provinces and regions and 4.36 million hectares of farmland. In all, 379 people have been killed and 114 missing due to the floods this year. Meanwhile, 390,000 houses have collapsed and 4.54 million people have been transferred. It is said that the direct economic losses have reached 82.4 billion yuan (12.1 billion U.S. dollars).

Another report says that a county in Yunnan Province was drowned out by the flood. People climbed onto the roof and asked for help. The relief workers drove the long boom loaders to transfer people to safer places.

In the year of 1998, people in southern China have suffered a lot from the flood. This thread has reminded me of it, very sad! Hope it will stop raining soon.
