| We are working in China and plan to travel afterwards until Dec 8th. We have a Z visa now which expires on Sept 9th and will then need a 90 day tourist visa to allow us to stay until our flight home. We are British passport holders. We are going to HK once we finish work, but are confused about the visa options open to us. Can you actually apply for a visa that allows a 90 day stay in mainland China or does the 90 visa we have seen mentioned on numerous sites actually only refer to the period of validity during which you can enter China after the visa is issued? We are now thinking the latter is true and will only be granted a 30 day stay! Can anyone tell us what our options are for British passport holders applying for a Chinese visa in Hong Kong? It's all very confusing and we have had no response from the visa department. Thanks in advance!!!! |

| You are likely to only get 30 days if you apply on the mainland, unless you or your employer have the right contacts. If you apply in HK you have a good chance of getting 3 months, but it might be less. If you apply in China mainland, remember that it starts from the day it is issued.... I applied 14 days too soon and ended up with a 16 day visa!! This is not a problem off the mainland. |
