The new train timetable was put into use on July 1 in order to cope with Summer Rush (July 1 to August 31, 62 days in all). According to the new timetable, more direct passenger trains will be added and some of them will provide service for Shanghai Expo during Summer Rush. Thus, travelers are reminded to check the latest updates on train schedules to ensure that your itineraries haven’t been affected.

By the way, Shanghai to Nanjing High Speed Train formally operated on July 1. The G-trains from Shanghai to Nanjing only takes around 73 minutes. Except the G-trains, D-trains still run between Shanghai and Nanjing. The D-train ticket prices are lower than G-trains but it takes much longer time, about 2 hours.

Ticket Prices:
G-trains CNY 233 (first class) CNY146 (second class)
D-trains CNY 112 (first class) CNY 93 (second class)
