i have my passport and have a single entry to china. I told the lady at the embassy of my plans of a 2 week stay. One week in china and in that one week i would do a day trip to zhongshan to visit my family house then back to hong kong then we fly to Beijing for the second week. I'm reading all these post and it is seeming to me that i should have got a multi entry instead. im confused. the lady was i didn't need it. hmmmmm...

Yes, if you exit to HK you will need another visa entry. So either get a new dual entry visa (wasting the one you have) or apply for another visa in HK. Don't even think about arguing with the consulate that the first visa was wrongly issued, you will get nowhere.

wow that sucks for a lack of better word. i guess i will be making another trip trip to the embassy for a new visa. thank you

Why don't you fly domestic instead of going thru HK. should be cheaper but you must have your tickets??

Guangzhou/Shenzhen/Zhuhai all have flights to Beijing

Yes i did already buy my tickets and hotels stays.
