day trip visa

I will be staying in hong kong and want to take a day trip to zhongshan for a few hours then back to hong kong. i have my passport with the visa category L and M entries. Do i need a visa just for this day trip

Yes you need a visa unless you are from one of the few exempt countries..... Brunei, Singapore and Japan, or you are a diplomat from certain countries or meet certain other requirements (rare). See. http://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/visa/intro2.htm
