“Secret Recipes” for cooking watermelon skin!

Watermelon is delicious, especially iced watermelon. But do you know that watermelon skin is also edible? Don’t be surprised. If you don’t believe, just do some dishes according to my “Secret Recipes” and then taste them if they are good.

No.1 Cold Watermelon Skin.

Main ingredients: watermelon skin, minced garlic, chicken essence, sugar, salt and sesame oil.

Step 1 Peel thick green skin of the watermelon and cut it into pieces. Make sure that you cut the green skin deeply. Otherwise, you won’t bite them.

Step 2 Mix watermelon skin pieces with minced garlic, chicken essence, sugar, salt and sesame oil.

Last, enjoy it.

No.2 Watermelon Skin with Lotus Root Slice

Main Ingredients: watermelon skin and Lotus Root.
Seasonings: orange juice, salt and sugar.

Step 1 Peel the green skin off, get rid of watermelon flesh and cut it into shreds.
Step 2 Wash lotus root, peel and cut it into slices and then put slices into water.
Step 3 Quick-boil lotus root slices and watermelon skin shreds separately and then dry them out.
Step 4 Mix lotus root slices and watermelon skin shreds with orange juice, salt and sugar.

Can they be eaten raw? Wow, I have not tried before. Actually, my mom always stir-fry it with green peppers, it tastes good. I ate it yesterday.

Then try to eat it raw, Glommy. I am sure that you won't be disappointed. And the watermelon skin can cure prickly heat too.

My parents told me that they used to spread it (make sure that the flesh has been cut off) on my back when I was young. After a while, you need to wash your body. Otherwise, your body will be sticky.

Stir-fried watermelon skin with pork fillet
Main ingredients: watermelon skin and pork fillet.
Seasonings: egg white, cooking wine, salt and starch.

Step 1 Get rid of the green skin and the flesh of the watermelon and then cut it into shreds, mix the shreds with salt and wait for a while. Then squeeze the water out.

Step 2 Cut pork fillet into shreds, mix the shreds with salt, cooking wine, starch and egg white.

Step 3 Put some vegetable oil in the pan, heat it up and then fry pork fillet shreds until they turn white. Then take out and dry the fried pork shreds.

Step 4 Heat up a little oil, add some consommé and boil for a while. Then put watermelon skin and pork fillet shreds in and stir-fry for a second. Finally, pour starchy sauce over the dish.

Didn't know that watermelon skin can be eaten. I just threw it away. At this weekend, I might try "Cold Watermelon Skin", probably the easiest dish that I can cook.

Cherry, do you have more recipes?
