Recent reports say that apartment rentals in big cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou have increased very much. The college graduate’s average salary in Beijing is around 2500 yuan per month. But the apartment rental is around 3600 yuan per month.

The apartment rental is much higher than college graduate’s salary. Is this normal? What’s the situation in your country?

You know what? Today I read that a guy regretted he didn't buy a house. He has rented a house in Shenzhen for 10 years. He has paid 366000 RMB for the rental. Now he still has no money to buy an apartment.

In Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou you are better off renting (and investing your capital in safer investments) than in buying a house presently. That could change but, relative to housing prices, the rents are still a bargain. 3600RMB/month may be a lot, but those paying that rent can't even consider buying a house in those areas
