I was worried, I'll grant you. Make copies of EVEERRYTHING. Just in case...Then let them sort it out. and 2 passport photos. I have a criminal record, and I had a small warrant out. I thought that maybe I could still apply for the Z Visa. I didn't even have all of the physical examination when I applied. I did need some of it done. I was turned away my first day. It was difficult to find a STD rapid testing clinic on the weekend, so I didn't. I had a Tuberculosis test, though. I applied for my visa at 10:30 am today. I got the visa at 2 PM. I recommend to do rush processing if you have to get a visa with a criminal record. It rushes them and makes it harder for them to find errors. Make a doctor do the physical part. Even if you cannot get the blood tests, this shows them you tried. If you need a criminal record certificate, make sure you check your local consulate. Sometimes you need it before employment, sometimes you need it post employment. Then, show up early. Look nice. ..Ace. Do what I've said, you'll get your visa.

Yeah, I know that I need to do it once I'm there. But the hard part for me was getting the visa. Nothing worse than showing up without something I need. The Physical Examination should be something you definitely get. Make sure you get one of the blood/disease tests. It shows you're trying to do something rather than showing up and being like..."HAY EVERYBODY I GO CHINA"

If you are able to, I'd do it from the San Francisco site. I'm an American though, I'm not sure where you're from? It was where I applied and got everything through easily. No complications and they were even done with the visa early. Just make sure ya have everything.

You did not state what country you applied in. For most countries it is definitely not necessary to take a physical examination (health check) to get the Z visa. You do that in the first month after arrival. That is logical as tourists can enter without a check and the Z visa is just a one month visa permitting you to apply for the worker's temporary residence permit on arrival. Also, the cost in most western countries is so high that no-one would go and work in teaching jobs as it could easily cost 1 month's pay. I completed the first half of the form when I applied first time.... the part where you declare your self free of certain diseases. The second part must be filled out by a doctor. Also I have heard or some offices in China that have refused to accept overseas health checks.....in China they must be done by nominated special health centres.
