How long is the suway ride from Beijing West Railway St. to Airport?

MSLOU Points: Join Date: Jul 14, 2010 Status: offline	Hello! Do you know how long it takes to get from Beijing West Railway Station to Beijing Capital Airport by subway? Is traveling by subway the fastest way to get there? Thanks!

Taxi is the fastest, but may encounter a traffic jam.

There is no subway station at Beijing West Railway Station. The nearest one should be the Military Museum Station. Anyway if you want to get to the airport by subway, get to the station first. It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk there. If you have lots of luggage, by taxi, it is about 5 minutes.

Take subway1 on the Military Museum Station(军事博物馆)→change to subway2 at Jianguomen Station(建国门)→change to airport subway at Dongzhimen(东直门). It takes about 1.5 hours.

About 50 minutes.
Just found out there are shuttle buses between the West Railway station and the airport.
Route： Beijing West Railway Station (Zhongyan Hotel at south square) → Guang'anmen → Ciqikou → Chaoyang Gongyuan Bridge → Airport
Operating hours: 05:10~21:00
Ticket :rmb 16

Do you know by chance how time I need to budget for the shuttle bus from the West Railway Station to the airport?? Need to make a 8:45 flight and trying to judge if I have enough time if my train gets in at 6:20. How crazy is Beijing airport? Will arriving an hour before my flight be enough time?

Wow, time is rather tight. Let me see how we can manage it.
First, for your question, it needs about 1 hour for shuttle bus traveling.

But you need to know the train may delay(actually it happens a lot) and time is needed to get out of the big railway station and find the shuttle bus which departs every 30 minutes. Leave it only 30 minutes and plus the 60 minutes on road, you will arrive at the airport at around 7:50 if there is no traffic jam. And to my limited knowledge, international check-in is stopped 45 minutes (domestic check-in 30 minutes) ahead of flight departure, which is 8:00. 10 minutes is not enough to complete the check-in procedures. So give up the shuttle bus.

Try taxi since you arrive at 6:20, it is not rush hour yet.
Or take taxi to Dongzhimen Subway station and then take the airport subway to avoid the possible traffic jam.
