I am not sure if foreigners know this thing: When you use your ICBC debit card to withdraw money from the ATMs of BOC, ABC or other commercial banks in the same city, you have to pay the trans-system service charge. Usually, you just need pay 2 yuan. However, the trans-system service charge has increased now. Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Construction Bank and some other commercial banks including Bank of Communications and Guangdong Development Bank all declare that the trans-system service charge for withdrawing money in the same city will increase to 4 yuan. Luckily, there are still some banks that haven’t increased the charge, including China Merchants Bank, Industrial Bank, Everbright Bank, China MinSheng Banking CORP and China Citic Bank. I don’t know if they will follow the steps to increase the trans-system service charge. Better not.

Thanks, Cherry. I won't withdraw money from other banks anymore unless I have something very urgent. All four state-owned banks have raised the trans-system service charge while some commercial banks haven't. My conclusion: Commercial banks's services are better. I am considering giving up my accounts in the state-owned banks and open a new account in one of the commercial banks.

Yes, it is true but unreasonable. Since the trans-system service charge has increased in four main banks in China, there are some banks that follow to increase the charge. Why do we have to pay for the print bill? differs from 5 yuan to 20 yuan. One of my friends tries to print out the bill of 3 years ago, guess what, he was charged 100 yuan by bank of China!! I searched on internet that if your bill is more than 5 pages, the charge will be doubled. The fee is very expensive to declare lost and reset password in some banks now.

China Banking Regulatory Commission has ordained those banks to mark prices and stop unreasonable charges. I hope it works.

GUEST5578 | Commercial banks now will not charge fees for some services. What about those state-owned banks? They still charge such fees? |
