Is Guangzhou a poor city by Chinese standards?
Jul 26, 2010 09:59
I have never been to southern China before, and I shall be visiting Guangzhou with a friend whose parents are from that city for 2 weeks in September. I've been to primarily the northeast like Changchun Harbin and Beijing (my parents are from Beijing) and Shanghai.

I was just wondering if Guangzhou is an underdeveloped Chinese city? Is it a rich city or poor city by Chinese standards?

Guangzhou is one of the major cities in China, it is world famous, it is definitely a rich city, not only by Chinese standard.

GUESTDAVE You can put Guangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai at the same level. It's more developed than Changchun and Harbin.
