In Guangzhou for 2 weeks in September: Tianhe or Liwan?

I will be staying over in Guangzhou for 2 weeks and my friend's family is providing the accomodation. They have apartments in both the Tianhe district (close to Wushan station of the Gz metro) and the Liwan district (on the northwest corner of Zhongshan 8 lu and Liwan Lu and close to the Chen Clan Academy station of the Gz metro).

Which location is better/more recommended? Please help?

Chen Clan Academy is better location, near Shangxiajiu Pedestrian street, Pearl River, Shamian Island etc.
