According to the hearing, the admission fee will rise to 125 yuan from current 100 yuan. There were 27 representatives during the hearing. 24 voted for supporting the ticket rise plan, among which 4 representatives thought that the ticket price rise was not enough. In other words, they wish the ticket price could increase a lot. Previously, local officials claimed that Pingyao couldn’t afford to receive officials for free. Every year, a large numbers of officials visit Pingyao City. Thanks to their special status, they needn’t buy the tickets and usually enjoy free lodge and meals. This causes a huge financial burden. However, officials denied that the ticket price increase had nothing to do with the financial burden caused by free reception for officials. The ticket price seems to increase for sure. What about tourists’ opinions? Definitely, they don’t want to see the ticket price increase. But the can do nothing to stop it. The local government has the final say on this.
