What's the difference between like and love?

I'm confused about the difference between "love" and "like". Someone tells me that "love" means that the one you love is the only one; "like" means that the ones you like you like can be many.


But how about this: I like someone first, then i love him? Is there any differences between these two?

Liking someone is the way you feel about a friend. You can like many people. There are two kinds of love. The first is the emotional bond you have with your family. The second is a deep emotion that you feel when liking someone turns to romanticaly loving them. When this happens you think about them all the time. You want to be with them and dream about a future together in marrital bliss. Well...that's the theory anyway
