![]() | At least 337 people have been killed and 1,148 others are missing in the rain-triggered mudslides in Zhouqu County, Gansu province, China. Torrential rains on Saturday night-August 9, 2010 prompted an avalanche of sludge and debris to crash down on Sunday morning. Many houses were ripped off their foundations. The mud-rock flow is of about 5 km long, 300 meters wide and 5 meters deep in the county seat with more than two million cubic meters of mud and rocks. About 45,000 residents have been evacuated that more than 300 families are destroyed and many are badly damaged. A total of 218 people have received clinical treatment. And 41 people who were severely injured now have been airlifted to the provincial capital Lanzhou for treatment. Now, troops, police and fire fighters are still searching for survivors…The press conference held last night by Gansu government pointed out through an analysis that 5.12 earthquake (which lead loose earth of the mountain), long lasting drought and rainstorm caused the mudslides. ![]() |

![]() | That is right, in todays news, it reported the number is up to 1117 the death toll. 627 are missing. A girl lost 16 relatives in this disaster,,, We have experienced too many disasters in these years. ![]() |
