Bringing Electronics from USA into China

I am trying to understand what is the Chinese Law with regards to bringing personal electronics with me that I plan to give as gifts.

Also any experiences on what type of inspection one undergoes in Shanghai.

Can you please offer any advice on expected taxes or challenges.

GUESTDAN The law is a bit complicated. It says that you can bring reasonable quantities for personal use. Of course, you don't have to pay tax. Personal use refers to "for yourself" or gifts to your friends/famlies, not for rent or sales. What is reasonable quantities? The customs has the final say. It depends where you go and how long you stay.
