According to the plan, the 45 tons torch will be removed and replaced to the northeast of the square. It combines with the Olympic Champions’ Wall to form the Olympic Torch Square. The Olympic Torch is divided into 5 parts: the main structure, the ignition system, the hydraulic system, automatic control system and the decoration part. The ignition and hydraulic systems will be removed and other parts will be renovated. It is said that the torch on the ground can resist the earthquake of 8 scales and erect for 50 years. And an observation platform will be built on where the torch originally stood. When it is done, the tourists can walk through 18 meters high steel structured Bird’s Nest to reach the observation platform. There you can have a panoramic view of the Bird’s Nest and the Olympic Park. To ensure the tourists’ safety, the Bird’s Nest will control the number of the visitors to the observation platform.
