I have to attend a conference at BICC, and the hotel in which I have registered is Hanting Express near the Bird's Nest Beijing. Can anyone guide me how to reach Hanting Express Hotel from BICC?

Also if I take Airport Bus Route 5 then how far is the BICC. Can someone please tell directions in detail.

BICC? Is it short for Beijing International Convention Center?

Hanting Express Hotel is not far away from BICC. It is located near China Central Nationalities Orchestra (No.15 Xiaoying Road, Chaoyang District). BICC is not far away from Hanting Express Hotel. Taxi might be your best choice and it won't cost you much money. It just takes around 10 minutes.

If you take airport bus route 5, just get off at Anhuiqiao (安慧桥).The BICC is located to the northwest of Anhuiqiao.

Thanks a lot for the info, just one more question.

I also have a trip scheduled for Microsoft Research Asia, so can you tell me how to reach Microsoft Research Asia from Hanting Express Hotel. I mean what to say to the taxi driver or how to reach by subway.

Moreover for getting to Hanting Express Hotel from Beijing International Convention Center what do I have to say to the taxi driver, do taxi drivers in China understand English?

TRAVELERAA,

The taxi drivers in Beijng might say some English. You can try it. If not, you may just show him this note: "您好!我要去汉庭快捷酒店鸟巢店(Hi! I am going to Hanting Express Hotel near the Bird Nest.)"

If you take a taxi from Hanting Express Hotel to Microsoft Research Asia, just tell him "您好!我要去微软亚洲研究院".

If you want to take subway, first walk or take a taxi to Huixinxijienankou(惠新西街南口). It is not far a way from Hanting Express Hotel. Then take subway line 10 to get off at Zhizhunli(知春里). Then you can walk to Microsoft Research Asia. It is about 142 meters from the subway station.

I'm sure your information would help a lot Cherry. But hmm.. the fact is that most of the taxi drivers don't speak English here in Beijing. So a better way would be to print the address out and just show the piece of paper to the taxi driver. And then you'll be fine.

Hehe, I just thought the Beijing Olympics has helped many people learn English. Thus, I guess that some taxi drivers can speak some basic English. Anyway, you know this better than me, Herbeat because you stay in Beijing.

Well, that's true. Olympic helped some driver, that's for sure. But even if you say you want to go to Summer Palace, I bet there won't be many drivers who know where you want to go. And to be honest I'm afraid the address is a bit difficult for an English-speaking person to remember and also to pronounce it right. That's why I normally suggest people to print it out. Better to be prepared than to push your lucky, right?
