Doing some research on Wikipedia about Hainan island it was mentioned that there is a Hainan Eastern Ring Railway that is to be completed this year (2010). I can't find any more information on it and it looks like a much faster alternative to taking the bus when I need to go from Sanya to Haikou Airport in late September. Does anyone know when the line will open? It would be nice to take this train since time between Sanya and Haikou is supposed to be 80 minutes vs. the 3-4 hours it will take for the bus. :) Wikipedia link for reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/

It is said that the Eastern Ring Railway will be put into use in November. You have to wait more than two months.

The Hainan Eastern Railway line will be put into use in the March of 2011. But there are still trains from Haikou to Sanya now, you may see the detailed info at [tcgurl=http://www.travelchinaguide.com/china-trains/]China Trains[/tcgurl], a hard seat ticket is rmb54 and a soft seat ticket is rmb84. If you like to see the scenery alone the railway line, then you may take it also. However, both the Haikou Railway station and Sanya railway station are not in the downtown area. In this case, if you want to make an easy trip, bus will be a better choice. And there are more buses traveling between the two cities than trains.
