Hi there,
I plan to fist Beijing during the first month on 2011...
Is it a good time for travel? or the cold makes it very bad idea,

I think it is ok. The best time is September to November. The temperature is not too high or too low. It is hot in summer there. In Spring, there might be sand storms.

M,

I am not a local in Beijing. However, I traveled in Beijing in late April this year. If you see my profile, you will find out that I live in Xi'an.

My wife and I love Beijing in the winter. The summer palace is gorgeous and the frozen lakes are amazing to walk over. This year in January we plan to go to Harbin too.
